Main Task : Shot Distances

For our opening sequence, we will be using more close-ups than any other shot types/distance. Especially as our genre/theme is thriller, thriller consists of a lot more close-ups to create enigma and suspense for the audience so they are ‘on-the-edge’ even from the start.

1 main shot is close ups which is a shot taken from a close distance so that the object appears relatively large and fills the entire frame. ‘Whatever’ Productions have decided to shoot (picture 1,2 and 3) particular objects in the shelter such as the board in the middle, the walls that have graffiti on them, the dirty mud etc…  Also, we have decided to take a close-up shot of the side of a tree to close-up on the detail of it.

The second main shot is a wide-mid long shot which is a shot taken from a greater distance so that the object appears relatively small in the frame. A long shot can convey setting or context. In the ‘Visitor’ (the opening sequence title), these shots are showing the area (in a sense) and introducing this mysterious female.
